This 214.5g Aletai iron meteorite cube comes from the Aletai strewn field in Xinjiang, China, one of the best-known iron meteorite impacts and first scientifically documented in 1898. Aletai is an iron-nickel meteorite linked to the metallic core of an ancient differentiated asteroid.
The cube has been etched to reveal the Widmanstätten pattern, formed through extremely slow cooling in space. Its cut surfaces allow the internal crystalline structure to be viewed clearly, giving this piece the presence and geological interest expected from a high-quality collector specimen.
