Apollo 14 Flown Beta Cloth Artifact
A genuine segment of Apollo 14 flown beta cloth carried to the Moon aboard the Apollo 14 Command Module "Kitty Hawk" and comes attached to a mission photograph of the Lunar Module on the surface of the Moon.

DESCRIPTION
This artifact presentation contains a genuine piece of Apollo 14 flown beta cloth. Beta was a flame resistant material developed and used throughout the spacecraft and spacesuits as a result of the Apollo 1 fire.
During the Apollo Program the crews were allowed to carry objects with them, these ranged from beta cloth patches such as the material attached to this presentation, embroidered mission patches, flags and personal possessions. These items were stored in the astronaut's personal preference kits (PPK) throughout the duration of each mission. This beta material was part of one such flown beta cloth.
