DESCRIPTION
This Sterley pallasite meteorite weighs 0.19 g and originates from one of the most scientifically significant pallasite strewn fields in the United States. Pallasites are rare stony-iron meteorites believed to have formed at the boundary between the core and mantle of a differentiated asteroid, and the Sterley fall is known for its high nickel-iron metal content and olivine crystals. Even at a small size, this specimen represents deep planetary processes that occurred billions of years ago during the formation of early solar system bodies.
