SpaceX CRS-14 & 17 Falcon 9/Dragon & ISS Flown Mylar Foil
This presentation contains a large segment of protective mylar foil that was launched into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule. The foil orbited Earth for 14 months, exposed to outer space, aboard the International Space Station.

DESCRIPTION
This large segment of protective mylar foil was flown within the MISSE payload to the International Space Station aboard the CRS-14 Falcon 9 Rocket where it orbited outside of the Space Station for over 14 months before returning to Earth aboard the SpaceX CRS-17 Dragon Capsule.
Mission Information:
The payload launched into Earth orbit aboard SpaceX flight CRS-14 on 2 April 2018 at 20:30:38 UTC, where it orbited for several days before docking with the International Space Station on 4 April 2018 at 13:00 UTC. The payload was then moved into position outside of the Space Station using the robotic arm where it remained for over 14 months.
While in space the mylar foil was subjected to temperatures of -100 °C (-148 °F) up to 120 °C (248 °F), electromagnetic radiation (UV-A, UV-B, UV-C, Visible Light, IR), micro-gravity (weightlessness), and the vacuum of space. The foil was used as a separating agent within the payload so that the contents did not stick together permanently.
After the mission was complete, the payload was loaded onto the CRS-17 Dragon Capsule and was returned to Earth on 4th June 2019, it landed at 21:48:38 UTC.
The mission lasted a total of 14 months, 1 day, 1 hour, 18 minutes, 0 seconds from the moment of liftoff until splashdown, and in that time it travelled over 175 million miles during its flight aboard the ISS (4.8 miles per second x 14 months).

We arranged for a payload of pins and patches to be sent up to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX Dragon rocket on 4th April 2018. The payload was attached to the exterior of the ISS and orbited for over 14 months and travelled approximately 175 million miles before returning to Earth via a SpaceX Dragon Capsule on 4th June 2019. The mylar foil was used within our payload as a separating agent so that the contents would not become permanently stuck together.
