This Mercury Friendship 7 Pin measures 1 inch in diameter and was produced by NASA's official patch manufacturer, AB Emblem. Friendship 7 was flown by Astronaut John Glenn, one of the original Mercury 7. The flight was the third human spaceflight as part of Project Mercury, and launched on February 20, 1962. The mission completed a total of three orbits around the Earth, making Glenn the first US astronaut to complete an orbit of the Earth.
